The NBA is infamous for having great Christmas day matchups by great teams that make the holiday season more giving.

The Matchups and why they are important
12:00 PM New Orleans Pelicans @ Miami Heat
These two teams are young and have superteam potential. The Heat are coming off a Finals run where they lost to the Lakers in 5 games but they had the fight and determination to be the best. The Pelicans just missed the playoffs but hope to have a fully healthy team all year this season. Zion Williamson looks to be the wrecking force to push the Pelicans ahead.
2:30 PM Golden State Warriors @ Milwaukee Bucks
Warriors weren't even the Warriors last year. With Curry and Klay both hurt for most of the season the Warriors managed to come in last in the Western Conference and secured the NO. 2 pick in the draft taking Center, James Weissman. They will be back and be better this year with Curry healthy but Klay being out will still hurt them. The Bucks on the other hand, had one of the best records last year and were booted out by the Heat in the playoffs in a surprising 5 game series. They look to prove that they are elite and last year wasn't a fluke.
5:00 PM Brooklyn Nets @ Boston Celtics
The Nets have a lot to prove because they have 2 superstars in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Durant was out all last year due to an Achilles injury and Irving was on and off the court with injuries. This will probably be the first big game for KD and Kyrie in a Nets jersey on Christmas day. The Celtics have a young team that makes the playoffs every year. With a little more experience they can be contenders easily. They can prove how good they actually are in the game by defeating these superstars.
8:00 PM Los Angeles Lakers v. Dallas Mavericks
The Lakers are coming off of a championship season after beating the Heat in 5 games. Lebron is entering his 18th season in the NBA and for some reason every year people doubt him. This will be a good Christmas night matchup for Lebron to show (once again) that age is only a number. The Mavs look to be led by Luke Doncic who is developing beautifully in his career and surge a win against the defending champs. The Mavs last year looked to be one piece away from being a contender maybe this year is the year.
10:30 PM Denver Nuggets v. Los Angeles Clippers
This is a huge game for both teams. Probably bigger for the Clippers who were the biggest bust last season. They were supposed to be elite contenders and take down every team they played. However, they blew a 3-1 series lead against the Nuggets that ruined their season and tore the team somewhat apart. They need to show that they can beat a team like the Nuggets to even think about going all the way. The Nuggets shocked everyone last year coming back and winning against the Clippers. If they win this game it can just show it was a fluke and that they really are the real deal.
